Sigh

Year’s end triggers an epidemic of looking back, a convenient way to package our experience and mark it. Pundits pronounce their choices for best movies (books, TV, software, political moments, people, et. al.). Prognosticators predict. Poets weave elliptical paths to self-knowledge.
Some of us just sigh, perhaps with resignation or exhaustion, or, in my case, with gratitude and relief, having survived a potentially life-threatening internal infection, two surgeries and recoveries, and a return to a highly paced work regimen.
Sigh.
Which is not to say I won’t be shortly posting my own annual lists, and as I get back into the rhythm of blogging, a bit of crystal-ball-gazing and even a bit of poetry.
But for now, let me simply express my gratitude, not only because I’m now vertical, rather than horizontal, but for the love and support of my friends and family, and for those with whom I work. They teach me greatly, and give me even greater cause for gratitude.
Here’s to 2013.
Sigh.
