I am a Call Bell

I attended an interesting event last week -- a so-called 'Think & Do' session organized by Henry Jenkins and others at the USC Annenberg Innovation Lab on transmedia branding. Participants were asked to bring a physical object as a quick way to introduce ourselves.

Voila, it came to me in the pool (a great place to brainstorm): the one object that combines some of my personality traits (bright, ringing, annoying, hard-to-ignore, know-it-all) with my value in the world, namely calling attention to stuff, which is what we consultants do (and curators, too). All because of the fortuitous encounter with said object on the final panel of the Story World Conference (#SWC12) which had been left behind by Lance Weiler. So I went right out and bought my own.

Ding, indeed! Turns out, everyone wants a call bell.

(BTW: I'll be posting about Story World soon).

Squarespace, my hosting provider, is based in lower Manhattan and has been one of the companies heroically trying to stay above water, literally. The server was acting funny as I tried to save this little test post. Wanted to make sure that the post went live: hence this followup. Good luck Squarespace, and everybody in Sandy's path.
